About Us

The MidCoast Sailing Center, an educational program of the Sail, Power and Steam Museum, provides classroom and onboard sailing experiences, education in seamanship skills, and exposure to the lure of the sea and Maine's maritime history. Our goal is to enrich the lives of residents and visitors through experiential learning, advocating personal and community growth through sailing's legacy.

Course offerings include weekly summer camps for kids (beginner to advanced), Monday-Friday, 9 am to noon. We also have sailing programs for adults, and private lessons.

The MidCoast Sailing Center is located at the renowned Sail, Power and Steam Museum in Rockland, Maine. The protected waters of the south end of Rockland's harbor are great for learning to sail and/or honing those skills already learned. We have water access through the generosity of Sharp's Point South. The museum provides us with a comfortable classroom space for dry land training.

Our fleet includes Optimist Prams, a Sunfish, an O'Day Widgeon, a Beetle Cat, a Cat Boat, a Wanderer, and two Friendship sloops: Persistence and Blackjack.
